Tips of interviewing Candidates
1. Know exactly what you’re looking for before you start
You need to clearly establish what your prospective employee needs to achieve
Know the factors that have brought you former success
Describe clearly the duties/knowledge/skills that are required for the position
2. Establish when possible an interviewing Team
Having more than one person interviewing will likely produce a more accurate and fair hiring process
Other interviewers may have skills and experience that you may not particularly possess that will allow you to conduct a thorough interview process
This process can allow you to see if the prospective employee will fit into a group environment by dealing with team environment interviewing process
3. Plan your questions in Advance
Pre-select question that help you recognize, evaluate skills and possible behaviors that candidates may need for the job
Some possibilities you could include as your selected questions
Icebreakers, making the less overwhelming for an interviewee
Questions on strengths and weakness
Questions on situations and how to deal with them
Questions on past experience and how they dealt with them
4. Plan the Interview Process
Prior to interviewing, try to make possible candidates feel comfortable.
During the interview make sure you listen and take notes, and possibly invite the candidate to ask questions
Tell the candidate when possible what to expect from the interview. Be clear to whether or not they suit your needs.
